Earlier this month, the Board of the Southern California Association of Governments (S.C.A.G.) rejected the long-term clean air targets for Southern California requested by the Air Resources Board and recommended by their own staff.  While today's Metro Board Meeting featured good news for cyclists and bad news for bus riders, there was another hot debate over what goals for reducing Greenhouse Gas should be set for Southern California.  You can read the motion here.

Climate Plan, a coalition of more than fifty nonprofits working on California climate policies, released a report [PDF] about what we've learned from S.B. 375, one of California's policy efforts to grapple with climate change. The coalition held a day of presentations in Sacramento on Monday to celebrate the release. Presenters—people who've been working in state and local agencies and advocacy organizations—confirm that we've learned quite a lot, that planning practices in California are changing, and that there is still more work to do to achieve state goals.

Following the good times and good vibes of our fundraiser at the Eco-Village, Streetsblog will be rolling into Northeast Los Angeles for our second ever fundraiser sponsored by the Flying Pigeon L.A. and the Eastside Bike Club.  The details are still being worked out, but I can tell you that we're going to have two parts to the June 18 fundraiser: a ride and an after-party.  We'll meet the the Flying Pigeon Bike shop at 6:00 P.M. with kickstands up at 6:30.  The ride and after party will be $10 each or $15 for both.  As always, donations are on a sliding scale.
