Support Streetsblog L.A. Today for a Better 2026

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re asking for your support to keep independent, people-centered transportation journalism alive in Los Angeles.

As a non-profit publication, Streetsblog Los Angeles relies on reader donations to maintain our high quality of reporting and to help plan how best we can continue to cover the region going forward. If you don’t need to read anymore, you can start by clicking here to make a donation, here to join our Patreon, or read below for some of the highlights of this year.

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re asking for your support to keep independent, people-centered transportation journalism alive in Los Angeles.

Every day, Streetsblog Los Angeles lifts up the stories that too often go untold: the fight for safer streets, the push for more equitable transit, the victories of community advocates, and the accountability needed to make our region’s leaders deliver on their promises. From covering the latest at Metro and City Hall to highlighting grassroots efforts in neighborhoods across the county, our work helps shape a more sustainable, more just transportation future for everyone.

And despite the many challenges that we faced this year, Streetsblog L.A. launched a new way to reach a wider audience. In October we posted our first short video to TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook. A dozen short videos later, the response has been fantastic with some videos exceeding 30,000 views and 5,000 likes. Streetsblog L.A. has also continued to produce SGV Connect, helping us reach the podcast audience as well.

But this work isn’t possible without readers like you.

Streetsblog is a nonprofit newsroom. We don’t have a corporate parent or a paywall. Instead, we rely on people who understand why independent reporting on transportation, housing, climate, and mobility justice matters—people who believe that journalism should serve the public good.

Your tax-deductible donation today ensures we can continue:

  • Investigating transportation decisions that affect safety, equity, and climate.
  • Amplifying community voices that push for better streets.
  • Providing consistent, in-depth coverage that policymakers, advocates, and everyday Angelenos depend on.

If you value this work, please consider making a contribution—whether $10, $25, or $100. Every donation strengthens our ability to report truthfully, hold leaders accountable, and spotlight the changes needed to make Los Angeles a more livable, people-first city.

Thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in the mission of Streetsblog Los Angeles. Together, we can keep this essential work going strong.

With gratitude,
The Streetsblog Los Angeles Team

They Came to Mourn. LAPD Came in Force. Now Two Men Could Face Serious Consequences Because LAPD Won’t Acknowledge They Were Wrong.

The July 7 vigil for Kenny Hall had been peaceful until LAPD arrived and began pushing people around. When peacemaker Shamond "Lil AD" Bennett tried to intervene and de-escalate LAPD, officer Evan Mott assaulted him. When Dontreal Washington protested, officers punched him in the face. Then LAPD arrested them both.
