Support Streetsblog L.A.’s Summer Fundraising Drive! Streetsie fundraiser postponed to September

Update: Due to increased COVID transmission and the need for an appropriate in-person venue, the Streetsie event announced for August has been pushed back to September. Check back for new details coming soon.

Twice a year, we ask Streetsblog readers throughout California to support Streetsblog through our donor drives. The summer fundraising drive is a little smaller than the end of year drive, but is no less crucial to our continued success and publication,

This year, we are aiming to raise $15,000 in July and August in new donations. There are lots of ways that one can donate to Streetsblog (donate online, mail a check, send us bitcoin, etc...) all of which can be found at our donation portal on the website. Streetsblog is part of the nonprofit Southern California Streets Initiative, and as such all donations are tax deductible.

2022 is proving to be another pivotal year for greater Los Angeles with potentially game-changing elections for citywide Los Angeles offices of mayor, controller and city attorney - plus tight races in mid-city and on the Westside for City Council offices - plus a key County Supervisor race, plus other local and state races. Streetsblog's seasoned team of Joe Linton, Sahra Sulaiman and Damien Newton have been joined by veteran broadcast journalist Chris Greenspon to cover the election as well as the what's shaping Southern California communities, including the latest at city halls, Metro, LADOT, police agencies, housing and homeless services providers, and much more.

This summer's donor drive is going to feature fun giveaways for both new donors and ongoing donors whether via Patreon or Donorbox. Everyone who donates during the drive will receive stickers and giveaways at our August 3 Streetsie event honoring Supervisor Holly Mitchell (more on that below) and will be entered into regular raffles to win not just swag from Streetsblog but also the Eastside Bike Club, LACBC and some of our other friends.

And while we are still finalizing details, we are also excited to host our first event in-person in nearly three years. On August 3, we will be holding a Streetsie Awards party honoring L.A. County Supervisor Holly Mitchell. We will have a full invitation next week with information on how to RSVP. For now, please hold the date and we look forward to seeing you then. Event information coming soon.

But you don't have to wait for the event announcement to make a donation. Donate today and help us reach our goal and stay strong as we head into a crucial fall and winter.
