The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog L.A.

Yesterday, victims of traffic violence called on Mayor Bass and the City Council to declare a formal state of emergency, to prioritize making streets safe. The next day, a speeding Chatsworth driver slammed into a stopped Metro bus, killing three bus riders. More tragedy ensued as a news helicopter, covering the car crash, also crashed killing three more people.

Bike and walk upgrades are coming to Chinatown.

Streetsblog’s annual review of L.A. City bikeways found that FY25-26 totals were the lowest since 2019.
