Metro board, San Gabriel River ride, Airport Metro Connector, bike film, L.A. City Council and more.
- Tuesday 6/20 – The Los Angeles City Council will vote today on a new President Pro Tempore to replace Council District 9’s Curren Price, who was recently charged with 10 counts of embezzlement, perjury, and conflict of interest. The motion put forth by Council President Paul Krekorian nominates Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson. Also on tap: updates on the mass eviction and relocation of the Barrington Plaza Apartments tenants (item 40), the funding and implementation of United to House L.A. (item 23), and a Park Block Pilot (modeled on Barcelona’s superblocks) (item 33). Council gets underway at 10 a.m. See meeting agenda for details on how to watch/participate.
- Wednesday 6/21 – The L.A. City Council agenda includes: an update on the proposal to open 25 Community School Parks by the end of 2025 (item 31) and a code amendment streamlining the permitting of affordable housing (item 45). Meeting begins at 10 a.m.
- Thursday 6/22 – The full Metro board will convene to discuss and vote on various items, including teeing up more 405 Freeway widening. Find meeting agendas and staff reports at Metro meeting page.
- Thursday 6/22 – Metro will host a virtual community meeting to update stakeholders on the progress of Airport Metro Connector construction. The 2 p.m. meeting will take place on Zoom. Details at Metro meeting page.
- Thursday 6/22 – The Bicycle Film Festival will host the L.A. premiere of The Engine Inside. The documentary traces the stories of six everyday people from all over the globe, who reveal the unique power of the bicycle to change lives and build a better world. The screening will take place starting at 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Theatre at 8556 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Bike valet will be provided by BikeLA. Purchase tickets at eventbrite. - Friday 6/23 – The L.A. City Council agenda includes: a resolution to establish 15mph zones and implement corresponding signage and markings on 98 streets adjacent to 45 schools (item 50). Meeting starts at 10 a.m.
- Saturday 6/24 – ActiveSGV will host the first ride in its Rivers and Mountains series. The 18.2-mile ride explores the San Gabriel River and Rio Hondo. Event starts at 8 a.m. at the Jeff Seymour Family Center at 10900 Mulhall Street in El Monte. GoSGV e-bikes available upon reservation. Details and sign up via eventbrite.
