Bike Counts. Metro meetings. Walking Tours. It's the Week in Livable Streets Events.

    • Tuesday, Saturday - The LACBC holds a series of bike counts throughout L.A. County. They need volunteers for morning and afternoon shifts on Tuesday and morning shifts on Saturday. Get all the details, here.
    • Tuesday - Technology is fundamentally changing the way we live, work, and use space. Cities have always facilitated the sharing of space, infrastructure, and culture, but our newfound connectivity is elevating the “sharing economy” to a level with impacts for land use and transportation planning, economic and community development, and sustainability. As these new models challenge current practices, outdated rules, and vested interests, how can planners and policymakers best capture their positive and negative effects? The American Planning Association - Los Angeles hosts a panel discussion to try and figure it out. Get the details, here.
    • Wednesday, Thursday - The Metro Board of Directors holds its near-monthly committee meetings to determine the agenda for the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors. The agendas hadn't been set when we wrote this roundup, but they can be found, here.
    • Friday  - Join Santa Monica Next and Consensus Inc. for an informal meetup over drinks for people who live and work in Santa Monica and who want to see their community thrive with sustainable progress and more livable neighborhoods. Get more details, here.
    • Saturday - Multi-Cultural Communities for Mobility Board Member (and occasional Streetsblog writer) Erick Huerta leads a walking tour of Boyle Heights. The tour will feature landmarks along First street such as the Breed Street Shul, Pico-Aliso Housing Projects, various murals, Evergreen Cemetery, and other landmarks that highlight the multiculturalism found in the neighborhood. Get more details. here.
    • Sunday - The non-profit L.A. Commons will host its 4th annual Found L.A: Festival of Neighborhoods, and its first based on a mayoral theme, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Great Streets Program. Angelenos will explore the main arteries of neighborhoods around the city, developed and not so, and meet the people in the center of activity there. More details, here.
