Widmer beer is sponsoring the event, and will be donating all proceeds from souvenir cup, beer and raffle sales to Streetsblog Los Angeles. We are still looking for four more volunteers willing to work three hour shifts. Email damien@streetsblog.org if you’re able to help us out.

“The first ARTCRANK I attended was in Minneapolis in 2009,” says veteran ARTCRANK artist, Eyeone. “I was immediately struck by the genius of melding bikes and poster design. I like to incorporate cycling themes in my work as often as I can, so I hoped the ARTCRANK concept would eventually come to my city. I’m stoked to have participated in ARTCRANK LAX last year and am looking forward to seeing what Los Angeles brings this year.”

“Few pieces of art excite people as much a great print about their bicycle,” says Mark Brickey of Hero Design Studio. “It’s as if the print is a badge of honor that they can display proudly on their wall, showing everyone they love the freedom of bicycles. It’s been an honor as a printmaker and artist to see the smiles these prints put on faces.”

The official ARTCRANK press release is after the jump.

“THE POSTER PARTY FOR BIKE PEOPLE” BACK TO LA

International bike poster show to feature affordable, bike-inspired poster art

by 30 local artists at November 9 show at Space 15 Twenty

Over the past year, the city of Los Angeles has installed more than 100 miles of new bike lanes, and excitement for cycling is on the rise in the city. It’s no coincidence then that anticipation is running high for the impending arrival of ARTCRANK.

After a successful LA debut last fall, ARTCRANK returns with a roster of 30 top local designers hand-printing bike-inspired posters for display and sale throughout the evening at Space 15 Twenty from 4:00-10:00pm on Saturday, November 9. Copies of each poster will be available for $40 each, and admission is free.

While ARTCRANK is best known for bringing bikes and art together, the show also has a charitable component. For the Los Angeles show, ARTCRANK is teaming up with Widmer Brothers Brewing to offer a selection of craft beers in exclusive ARTCRANK pint glasses. All proceeds will benefit L.A. Streetsblog, a nonprofit news organization covering the movement to transform transportation in Los Angeles by improving conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders.

“Last year, hundreds of cyclists and art lovers joined us for ARTCRANK to enjoy the evening, buy local, bike-themed art and support Streetsblog,” says Damien Newton, Editor of LA Streetsblog. “We’re looking to grow that success this year, and meet even more people that love a good party, riding their bikes and high-quality, original art.”
