Vote early! Plus meetings on Metro Sepulveda Corridor, Metro Public Safety, Pasadena complete streets, and more.
- VOTE! Election Day is Tuesday 11/3.
- Vote early! Due to federal changes, it is too late to vote by mail and be sure that your vote will arrive in time to be counted. You can drop off your ballot at an election drop-box [locations] or at a polling place [locations] tomorrow-Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find more voting specifics at the County Registrar website.
- Streetsblog is a non-profit that does not endorse candidates, but sometimes endorses ballot propositions and measures.
- The only Streetsblog-endorsed items on this week’s L.A. County ballot are: NO on Prop 43 and NO on Prop 45. Find additional non-L.A. County endorsements at Streetsblog California.
- There are lots of voter guides – maybe start with L.A. Public Press or L.A. Material guides to voter guides, and/or extensive election explainers at LAist.
- Ride Metro transit and bike-share for free on Election Day. Some other transit providers also offer free rides – including Big Blue Bus, Burbank Bus, LADOT, Pasadena Transit, and likely others.
- It takes a while for L.A. County to finish counting votes. Don’t expect final vote tallies until end of day Friday 11/5 or later.
- Starting Wednesday 11/4 – Metro will host a series of five Sepulveda Transit Corridor project scoping meetings. Scoping comments are due by Wednesday 11/18. For project background, see Nick Andert’s new video, SBLA coverage, and/or Metro project webpage or project hub. Meetings coming up:
- Virtual – Wednesday 11/4 from 12-1 p.m.
- Culver City Veterans Memorial Building – Saturday 11/7 from 3-5 p.m.
- Westwood United Methodist Church – Tuesday 11/10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Van Nuys Marvin Braude Constituent Ctr. – Saturday 11/14 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Sherman Oaks East Valley Adult Center – Monday 11/16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday 11/4 – The city of Pasadena will host a virtual community meeting on its Pasadena Avenue and St. John Avenue Roadway Network Project from 6-7:30 p.m. Find project and meeting details at city webpage and at Pasadena Now.
- Thursday 11/5 – Metro’s Public Safety Advisory will meet starting at 6 p.m. Find details at Eventbrite.
- Sign up now for Mondays in November – Casa 0101 is holding a free Fire in the Eastside playwriting writing workshop for those wanting to put their experience of the Lineage Fire into written form. Have you been impacted by the Lineage Fire? Are you angry about the lack of accountability and have something to say? Writers and aspiring writers from Boyle Heights, East L.A., and the greater Eastside are invited to participate to develop monologues and 5–10 minute plays about the fire and environmental injustices in the community. The ten most compelling works will be featured in a Fire in the Eastside short play festival at Casa 0101 Theater in April/May. Works not selected will have a public reading at Casa 0101. Workshop will meet 7-9 p.m. on Mondays from November 9 to December 14. Find details at Casa 0101 event page. Sign up at Casa 0101. Can’t attend the worship? Submit your 5–10 minute play or monologue to classes@casa0101.org by December 14 to be considered.
- Ongoing: The National Day Laborer Network continues to urge those that can to adopt a corner to help protect day laborers and vendors from ICE sweeps. See their webpage to register to adopt a corner or attend a workshop on how to help.
- Ongoing scheduled Metro service alerts:
- Metro B Line communication systems installations and track maintenance is resulting in delays, single-tracking, some station closure bus bridges, etc. mainly between Wilshire/Vermont and North Hollywood; work will continue weekends (and some late weeknights) through end of January 2027.
- Metro G Line construction bus/bike detours are in effect through 2027. The Sepulveda G Station area closure is in effect through December 2026.
