Election Day, Westside bus lanes, Metro meetings, and more.
- Tuesday 6/2 – It’s Election Day. Many transit operators offer free fares.
- Don’t mail your ballot – drop off or vote in person (SBCA)
- Find your polling place, via L.A. County Registrar or CA Secretary of State websites
- Find election tips at Daily News, LAist, L.A. Taco, Public Press, Boyle Heights Beat, NBC4, and elsewhere
- SBLA has no endorsements this time, consider endorsements from: Adam Conover’s Progressive Voter Guide, Daily News, Democratic Party, L.A. County Federation of Labor, L.A. Forward, L.A. Sentinel, Republican Party, Streets for All, and elsewhere
- Wednesday 6/3 – Metro oversight committees meet at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Find details and staff reports at Metro meeting page.
- Wednesday 6/3, Saturday 6/6 and Wednesday 6/10 – The Westside Cities Council of Governments will host their second round of public meetings for the Westside Bus Connections project, which plans new bus lanes on La Cienega, Sepulveda, and more. Find project information at WCCOG project webpage and EngageWeHo. Attend a community workshop to learn more and give input:
- 6 p.m. Wednesday 6/3 at La Cienega Community Center at 8400 Gregory Way, Beverly Hills
- 10 a.m. Saturday 6/6 at West L.A. Civic Center at 1645 Corinth Avenue, #101 in West Los Angeles
- 1 p.m. Wednesday 6/10 via Zoom
- Thursday 6/4 – Metro’s Public Safety Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Find details at Eventbrite.
- Starting Saturday 6/6 – Metro will host a series of public hearings for its Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 project, a light rail line extending the E Line east through East L.A., Commerce, and Montebello – then later through Pico Rivera to Whittier. Meeting will take place Saturday 6/6 10 a.m. in person in East L.A., Monday 6/8 11:30 a.m. virtual hearing, Wednesday 6/10 in Commerce, Saturday 6/13 in Montebello.
- Saturdays and Sundays through 6/14 – Metro will host free art/architecture tours of Union Station (in English and Spanish – see schedule). Tours start at 10:30 a.m. For schedule and to reserve a spot, go to Eventbrite.
- Ongoing: The National Day Laborer Network continues to urge those that can to adopt a corner to help protect day laborers and vendors from ICE sweeps. See their webpage to register to adopt a corner or attend a workshop on how to help.
- Ongoing scheduled Metro service alerts:
- Metro G Line construction bus/bike detours are in effect through 2027. The Sepulveda Station area closure is in effect through December 2026.
