Just a Reminder: Streetfilms, Potlucks, Carmageddon Celebration Friday at Bikerowave

Just a reminder Friday, September 28, at 7:00 P.M., Streetsblog and the Bikerowave celebrate the beginning of Carmageddon at the Bikerowave at 12255 Venice Boulevard.

Streetsblog is providing the drinks, and we encourage everyone to bring food as part of a potluck. Everytime I’ve been to a potluck at Bikerowave, the food has been great.

There is no charge for the event, but all proceeds will go to the Kick Butt and Get Better Fund to benefit C.I.C.L.E. founder Shay Sanchez. For those of you who don’t know Shay’s story, you can read more about it here, but in short:

Shay Wiessler Sanchez was a vibrant and spunky 39 year old, who founded and was at the helm of Cyclists Inciting Change thru Live Exchange. But in 2009, her life took a horrible, and life-threatening, turn for the worse. Her decade-long struggle with Lupus manifested into an aggressive form of vasculitis. Her immune system suddenly decided to attack her own arteries and blood vessels.

Carmageddon Now a Big Bike Weekend

|
Last year, Wolfpack Hustle stole the show, and many of the headlines, from the doomsayers that predicted Carmageddon when Caltrans had to temporarily close less than ten miles of freeway connecting the Westside of Los Angeles to the Valley. How did they do it? The bicycling team raced an airplane from Burbank to Long Beach […]
