L.A. Streetsblog is pretty excited about Los Angeles' fourth CicLAvia coming up in just under three weeks. On Sunday April 15th 2012, about 100,000 Angelenos will experience what L.A. streets can be when we just remove a few pesky automobiles. In case you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple years, watch these earlier Streetfilm
In anticipation of the big day, Streetsblog will run down some of the latest CicLAvia activity:
- Watch and vote for your favorite Streetfilms - and, er, other great CicLAvia videos - at the CicLAvideo contest!
- CicLAvia is looking to expand to new communities. With support from the County Public Health Department's RENEW initiative, CicLAvia has been exploring possibilities for new routes, likely debuting in 2013, in Pomona, Lynwood / South Gate / Huntington Park and in the city of San Fernando. You can catch their San Fernando stakeholder meeting this Thursday night. The route may extend into adjacent city of L.A. San Fernando Valley neighborhoods like Pacoima and Northridge.
- Pick your favorite design for the April 2012 CicLAvia t-shirt - facebook poll closes Wednesday.
- Support CicLAvia by volunteering and/or contributing via their Kickstarter Campaign.
You never know what great things will happen to you at CicLAvia.
