Public Meetings for the proposed 63-mile High Desert Corridor

Four community update meetings are scheduled Jan. 24, 26, 31 and Feb. 1 in the Antelope Valley and Victor Valley. The Victorville meeting on Jan. 31 is scheduled to be streamed live on, making the meeting available for viewing and accessible for online public participation.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are hosting four community update meetings for the High Desert Corridor (HDC) project.

The proposed 63-mile corridor under study to link Antelope Valley with Victor Valley is currently in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIS/EIR) preparation phase, which began in late 2010. The HDC project proposes construction of a new east-west freeway/expressway linking State Route SR-14 in Los Angeles County with SR-18 in San Bernardino County.

Based on the feedback received at previous meetings and further technical analysis, the project team will present results from the Alternatives Analysis Report and updates on potential alignments, variations, and next steps.

The new freeway/expressway connection between Antelope Valley and Victor Valley would link some of the fastest residential, commercial and industrial growth areas in Southern California, including the cities of Palmdale, Lancaster, Adelanto, Victorville and the Town of Apple Valley. In addition to addressing the issue of growth, the HDC project will address traffic safety and support the growing need to move goods through the region.

The following meetings are being held to present the information gathered during the environmental process now underway:

    • Lake Los Angeles: Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, 6 - 8 p.m., Twin Lakes Community Church, 17213 Lake Los Angeles Ave,. Palmdale, CA 93591
    • Palmdale: Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, 6 - 8 p.m., Larry Chimbole Center , 38350 Sierra Highway, Palmdale, CA 93550
    • Victorville: Tuesday, Jan, 31, 2012, 6 - 8 p.m., Town of Apple Valley Town Council Chambers, 14343 Civic Drive, Victorville, CA 92392 Streamed live on!
    • Adelanto: Wednesday, Feb 1, 2012, 6 - 8 p.m., Stater Bros Stadium, Mavericks Conference Room, 1200 Stadium Way, Adelanto, CA 92301

Content presented at these meetings will be identical and in the following format: Open house session from 6 to 6:30 p.m.; presentations from 6:30 to 7 p.m., and questions and comments from 7 to 8 p.m.
