Special Los Angeles Streetsblog Fundraiser on October 23
On October 23, Streetsblog will be holding it's 4th fundraiser at the home of Deborah Murphy in Silver Lake at 6:00 P.M. This event is going to be different than the events we've held in the past because we're having the event professionally catered and we're requiring an RSVP. The suggested donation for the event is $100.

UCLA Still Looking for Help in Their Photo Research Project on Commuting
Back in April, Streetsblog helped announce a "photo research" project being done by the UCLA Transportation Institute to help them analyze commuting trends. Now that the school year is again underway, they asked if Streetsblog would re-post that information to solicit a little more help from Streetsblog commuters.

Park(ing) Day Preview
Excitement is building for today's Park(ing) Day. I probably will be a couple of hours late with the normal morning postings while I help set up our space on Federal Street (street address 11555 National Boulevard.) The day will end with a couple of parties for participants (listed after the posters.) but for now get a preview of some of the originality that's going to be on display tomorrow.

Labor Day Special Poll: 24 Hours to Pick the Best Fantasy Transit Project
On Friday, we brought you a summary of Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge's vision for the future of Metro Rail. We joked that it was the fantasy football version of transit planning, as Metro has a long term plan and whether we like it or not, a lot of the projects in it have to go forward because of the wording of the Measure R transit tax from 2008.
