That OCTA and Caltrans are promoting a project that will increase the amount of traffic on Route 57 isn't the only thing that has locals so concerned. CALTRANS Thinking of Congestion Pricing on Highways
Just a day after Democrats in New York decided that New York City traffic conditions are just fine and congestion pricing isn't needed there, alert LA Streetsblog reader Radical Transportation Engineer sends news that CALTRANS is looking for consultants to help study how best to convert carpool lanes into High Occupancy Toll lanes. CALTRANS in 2001: Union Station Inaccessible for Cyclists/Pedestrians
While bouncing around the Internet, I found an official CALTRANS website examining the ped. friendliness of Union Station made in 2001. The engineers flunked the planning for pedestrian access (giving it a 3 out of 8) and gave lowest possible score for bicycle access.
