Streetsblog Presents: A CicLAvia Film Festival

I’m sure at this point, you’re well aware that CicLAvia is coming back this weekend, from Hel-Mel to Hollenbeck Park right through the heart of Downtown.  To help wet your appetite for this Sunday’s event, we scoured the Internet for the best CicLAvia films, and put our favorites together in to a mini-CicLAvia Film Festival.  Of course, our favorite is the official Streetfilm done by Robin Adams above, but there’s a lot of great films done by others including a time-lapse video shot by Will Campbell and a film of Streetfilms quality by Elson Trinidad.

If you’re a fan of short film, or just want to get geared up for CicLAvia, then you should check out these films, after the jump.

(This is part one of our coverage of yesterday’s groundbreaking Open Street Festival.  Hopefully later today we’ll have up a Streetfilm.  Tomorrow we’ll review the reviews of CicLAvia. – DN.) There’s many ways to try and talk about yesterday’s CicLAvia.  One way is to look at the numbers, another to look at the people, and […]

CicLAvia Is…En Español

|
A huge Streetsblog thank you to David Barboza, who accepted our challenge and subtitled this year’s Streetfilm on CicLAvia.  Unfortunately, we can’t embed the film with the subtitles, but if you click on the image above it will take you to the Streetfilms page for the film.  Just set the “language” in the lower left […]

Adams Does It Again with Third Mini-Documentary on CicLAvia

|
Rob Adams is probably as close to an “official videographer” for CicLAvia as one can get.  He shot our two Streetfilms on the big event (watch “Let’s Go” –10.10.10” and “CicLAvia Is…” 4.10.11“) and this time since L.A. Streetsblog/Streetfilms is going in a different direction, the CicLAvia team asked him to shoot a film directly for […]

How About a Half Dozen CicLAvias in 2011?

|
The CicLAvia team met last night to review the lessons learned from last Sunday’s amazing open street festival in Los Angeles. Apparently, the committee was as happy with the results as everyone else that attended the event because they’re hoping to program between four and six CicLAvias for 2011. One of those would mirror the […]

This week, as we prepare for Los Angeles’ first Ciclovia-styled event next Sunday, we’re going to take some time to celebrate some of the great open-street festivals from around the world.  Streetfilms has done yeoman’s work putting together a pretty amazing series on these festivals throughout the Americas. Today we focus on the Grand Daddy […]
