  • That headline’s a little misleading, makes it sound like MTA and Cal HSR are fighting each other. Actually they’re teaming up to buy the station.

    Union Station hasn’t done too badly under private hands, although I could see why Metro would want to claim a bigger stake. I’d be all for ANY owner who:
    1) maintained the historic dignity of the waiting room, main hallway, courtyards and gardens
    2) continued the policy of allowing commercial improvements such as Famima!!
    3) kept the bathrooms and public areas clean
    4) treated photographers with respect
