L.A. Press Club Honors Streetsblog Los Angeles as Best News Blog in L.A.
It was another banner night for Streetsblog Los Angeles at the L.A. Press Club Awards Dinner. In addition to our win as the 2013 "best blog" award, Streetsblog team placed in three other categories, including two that were "medium-wide" meaning that we were competing not just against online media but all media. People St Plans Plazas and Parklets for the Fall, Next Project Round Could Be Pushed to 2015
Yesterday, the People St program unveiled its project list for 2014 at the City Council Transportation Committee. People St is the new program by LADOT that encourages communities to plan and pay for their own parklets, plazas, and bike corrals. LADOT will help with the permitting and final planning for the projects. The project list included three plazas and four parklets spread out throughout the city.

Metro: We’re Not Opposed to North Figueroa Road Diet
Responding to coverage in Streetsblog of the May meeting held concerning the North Figueroa Road Diet, a spokesperson for Metro reached out to Streetsblog arguing that despite our characterization of Metro's position as "opposed to the Road Diet," Metro is not opposed to reducing mixed used traffic lanes to create a buffered bike lane.
