Santa Monica Family Bike Fest Coming Up In Early December
Coming up on Saturday, December 8th, Santa Monica is hosting a Family Bike Fest, through a collaboration of the city, local schools, and the Safe Routes To School program. Just as the preparation events held in conjunction with the Bike It! Walk It! Days, the festival will have an educational component with youth bike skills courses and information. With food and other activities planned, it should be a pretty good time for people of all ages.

Do You Have Any Metro/LACMTA Tokens? They Still Work!
Recently the Employee Transportation Coordinator at my workplace asked me how does one pay to ride Metro Rail using tokens. After a few days I acquired and passed along a take one brochure (of the type you see on rail and bus vehicles) describing the procedure. In the interim the ETC had also sent a query to Metro Customer Relations which quickly provided the information. All this effort was necessary because at that time the Metro website lacked the information.

St. Louis Boy Killed by Drunk Driver, Put in Harm’s Way by Design
Last month, two boys were trying to cross the street in a suburb of St. Louis to reach a gas station convenience store. At the same time, Ricky Weeden was driving drunk down St. Charles Rock Road in a pickup truck.

Union Station Master Plan Project Update
After purchasing Union Station last year, Metro is making plans to upgrade the station to a world class transit facility. The property surrounding Union Station is permitted to have up to 6 million square feet of development – and the Master Plan will create a careful blueprint for growth that honors the rich history of surrounding communities.

Where: Meet at Metropolis Bikes – 4660 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood Join us for a roughly 3.5-mile ride along Lankershim (proposed bike lanes), Colfax (existing bike lanes) and the Chandler Bikeway (bike path).
