The latest streets and transportation news from Streetsblog L.A.

In late May, Streetsblog will host a multimodal commuter race across Los Angeles: the D Line Dash! A subway rider, a cyclist, and a driver will start at the La Cienega/Wilshire Station, the west end of the – opening May 8 – Metro D Line Subway. The three racers will make their way to downtown Los Angeles. Who will get there first?!? Streetsblog is asking you to sponsor this exciting multimodal race. Watch a short event promo video! Read sponsorship opportunity details! Email damien@streetsblog.org if you’re interested or have questions.

And this week’s news:

Metro and others are pushing for state legislation that would “fix” SB 79, new state law that facilitates more housing near transit stations. Senator Maria Elena Durazo’s AB 1361, a bill that many feared would gut SB 79 for L.A. County, now appears to have settled into a workable compromise.

South El Monte completed numerous crosswalk improvements to make it safer for kids to walk to school.

CicLAvia will open West L.A. streets this Sunday.

Plenty of daily headlines.
