Pick the New Metro Board Member
Last week, City Council Member Bernard Parks abruptly announced he would be stepping down as a member of the Metro Board. Speculation for Parks' resignation ranged from concerns about ethics allegations from groups such as Damien Goodmons' Fix Expo organization to people thinking it would be awkward for the Councilman to serve next to County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas who defeated Parks in a hotly contested election last year.

Streetsblog Flashback: City Council All-Day Transportation Meeting
Last year, on January 29, the City Council held an all-day hearing on transportation. The meeting was heavily covered in blogs and in the news and a couple of months later, the City Council released a list of 25 action items for the City to work on to make transportation better.

Hollywood BID Opens Transportation Website
This morning, the Hollywood Entertainment District, the local Business Development District, and City Council President Eric Garcetti announced the opening of a new website to help residents and visitors better navigate the streets of Hollywood. Navigatehollywood.com is still ironing out some wrinkles, but at first glance has done a pretty good job of recognizing that there are a lot of different ways to travel through Hollywood that dont' involve a car.

Woodland Hills Community Opposes Speed Limit Raises
Last night, as a last step before getting three speed limit increases approved for the San Fernando Valley, the LADOT and LAPD presented the increases to the Woodland Hills-Warner Center Neighborhood Council's Public Safety Committee. The meeting only occurred because members of the committee attended a City Council hearing on the increases and the Council ordered the LADOT to conduct this meeting as a condition of getting a full vote from the Council on the proposed increases.
