I could probably spend the entire post just raving about the food, atmosphere, ambiance and crowd that showed up at Deborah Murphy's Silver Lake Home on Saturday night for our 5th Birthday Party and 2012 Streetsie Award Night but then I wouldn't have time for all the thank you's that I owe.

May 18: Take the kids and “Ride the Movie Trains”
Families looking for a diversion for the kids (or grandkids) less pricey than Disneyland will rejoice to learn Saturday May 18th there will be occurring a once in a lifetime event that is guaranteed to make even the most squirmy youngster gleeful: an excursion on the Fillmore and Western Railroad in Ventura County aka "the Movie Trains" sponsored by the Pacific Railroad Society.

Come and Get It: LaHood Announces Fifth Round of TIGER Grants
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told members of Congress last week that U.S. DOT would be announcing TIGER V on Friday. He kept us in suspense through the weekend, but here it is: $474 million for innovative transportation projects that don’t necessarily fit neatly under other funding programs.

Damien Newton and Stephanie Wiggins, the woman overseeing Metro's ExpressLanes implementation, will be on KPFK 90.7 F.M. from 2:30 to 3:00 pm later today discussing how the ExpressLanes one-year pilot program is working.
