This Week in Livable Streets Events
As hearings and meetings for a series of new parks in Downtown Los Angeles and hearings on the future of the Big Blue Bus roll on (see our calendar section for details), this week also features one monthly meeting and one bi-monthly meeting that have special significance this February.

The Week in Livable Streets Events
It's a short week with Martin Luther King Day yesterday, but there's a ton of great events on tap for the weekend and beyond. The highlight might be the Transportation Forum being held by a pair of Assembylman, including Transportation Committee Chair Mike Eng. I can't make the hearing, but if you can and are willing to write about it, please let me know at damien@streetsblog.org.

The Week in Livable Streets Events
Right before the holiday break, it seems the number of events for activists wane as the number of events celebrating the season increase. This week's calendar features only one government meeting of note, the Annual Holiday of Rights, and a chance to do something about bike parking in Pico-Union (along with the parties...)

For the less political rider, there's a charity toy ride to kick off a series of rides where cyclists donate time and toys to the needy. And of course, there's those Assembly meetings in the Metro Board Room starting this afternoon and continuing throughout the week.

It presents a rare chance to explore transit in far flung areas and ride services that only operate Monday to Friday without having to take a day off from work. … Continued

The Week in Livable Streets Events: Government Meetings, Bike Rides and More!
The week starts slow but heats up from Wednesday until the end of the week. It looks a lot better than next week which is something of an events graveyard. If anyone has anything to add, they should email me at damien@streetsblog.org.

The Week in Livable Streets Events: The Gold Line Eastside Extension Opens
This week the calendar features an event every day of the work week. Personally, I'm looking forward to getting on Gunpowder for an advocacy ride this Friday, but the reality is that Wednesday's presentation by Rita Robinson and Gail Goldberg could be either a ground breaking moment or a major disappointment. We'll have to wait and see...
