AIA Mayoral Candidate Conversations: Kevin James
In the third conversation in AIA’s series with mayoral candidates, Kevin James billed himself as an outsider. James, a former radio host and the sole republican on the LA mayoral ballot, was at his best on Friday night when he was criticizing city council and proposing more power for neighborhood councils. Yet when asked about bike issues, and densification, he was constantly at odds with the moderators, and used more anecdotal evidence for his reasoning.

AIA Mayoral Candidate Forum: Perry Offers Promises, Points to Track Record
In her own words, Mayoral Candidate and 9th District City Council Woman Jan Perry has had a "bird's eye view" of planning in Los Angeles since 1990, when she was tapped by then City Councilman Mike Woo to be his planning deputy. In the over two decades since then, Perry has been a key figure in City Hall when it comes to any discussion of planning and Los Angeles, most prominently as a member of the City Council for the last eleven years.

AIA Sponsors Weekly Forums with Leading Candidates for Mayor
Starting this Friday, the American Institute of Architects (AIA|LA) begins a weekly forum with the five candidates for Mayor. Hosting the evenings will be Los Angeles City Planning Commission President Bill Roschen and Los Angeles Times Architecture Critic Christopher Hawthorne. The events promise to be one of the first chances each candidate has to outline a vision for how they want Los Angeles' communities, developments and buildings will look in their Los Angeles. Leading off the schedule this Friday is City Council Woman Jan Perry.
