CicLAvia Announces Expanded Route for October Heading North and South off Original Spur
By the early afternoon of April 10, it was clear that CicLAvia had outgrown its original seven and a half mile route. In the urban core of Downtown Los Angeles, bikes were packed so thick on the road that entire groups wouldn't make it through traffic signals and other road users were intimidated from using the street. Something had to change for the amazing car-free party to continue to attract new riders.

Come Out and Play: Let’s Help CicLAvia Become More Friendly to Kids and Walkers
CicLAvia was amazing last Sunday. When you think that less than a year ago it wasn't certain Los Angeles would every have an open street festival and now we're having over 100,000 people take to the streets, it's double-amazing.

CicLAvia: When it’s OK to Play in the Street
Yesterday, over a hundred thousand Los Angeles residents turned out for the second-ever cicLAvia. Envisioned as a way to get busy Angelenos out of their cars and into the streets together, cicLAvia opens up a 7.5 mile route along our city streets, allowing cyclists, skaters, and pedestrians to enjoy a car-free LA.

CicLAvia II – Bigger and Cooler Than Last Time
Yesterday, with more fanfare and riders than the maiden ride in October of last year, CicLAvia rolled back to the streets of Los Angeles. The route for what is fast becoming the largest car-free party in the country was the same as the 10/10/10 CicLAvia, stretching from the East Hollywood Bike District to East L.A.'s Hollenbeck Park via 7th Street and the Downtown. Media estimated a 30% growth in participants as the number of bike riders, runners, roller bladers, dodge ballers and just walkers swelled to 130,000 people.
