Santa Monica To Open Real-Time Bike Traffic Counter on Main Street
Santa Monica tomorrow will join the ranks of cities using real-time information to encourage biking, through installation of an automated bike counter located at Main Street just south of Colorado Avenue. The official ribbon cutting will be tomorrow-Wednesday at noon.

Pacoima’s Van Nuys Blvd Celebrates L.A.’s Newest Protected Bikeway
This morning, Pacoima celebrated the city of Los Angeles' newest protected bike lanes on Van Nuys Blvd. The Van Nuys parking-protected bike lane extends 0.8-miles from Laurel Canyon Boulevard to San Fernando Road. This is the city's fourth protected bike lane facility, and the first in a predominantly low-income Latino community.

Palos Verdes Estates Cyclists Stage Die-In Protest
Yesterday about 30 Palos Verdes bicyclists staged a peaceful protest against the inaction of the Palos Verdes Estates City Council. The event was organized by a group called Cyclists for Palos Verdes and Southern California Bike Safety. The cyclists are pushing for PVE to install five "Bikes May Use Full Lane" signs on Palos Verdes Drive West, a popular and scenic street used frequently by recreational cyclists.

This week, #DamienTalks with David Diaz with Day One and BikeSGV about the Mulhall Bike Park that is under construction in El Monte. The Bike Park is literally designed to do exactly what it says: be a space for people to practice their bicycling skills in a closed, safe setting.

Eyes On the Street: L.A. Bus Lane Signage Slightly Improved
L.A. bus lane signage has changed somewhat. On peak-hour bus lane segments installed earlier the signs read "Buses/Right Turns/Only" with a smaller "Bikes OK" notation at the very bottom. The new signs are a bit clearer on the status of bicycling, with "Buses/Bikes &/Right Turns/Only" prominently.
