Competing Visions for 6th Street Viaduct “Iconic,” but Residents’ Concerns More Practical

El Mercado del Pueblo Opens in Boyle Heights
El Mercardo del Pueblo, or the neighborhood market, opened Saturday after months of work securing a path for street vendors to vend legally. East Los Angeles Community Corporation organizers helped street vendors get permits, certificates, and undergo inspections in order to sell at the market, which was located at Hollenbeck Middle School.
