Eyes on the Street: Expo Tracks All the Way to Culver City
As rail watchers are well aware, Phase I of the Expo Line is scheduled to open later this year. The exact date isn't known yet, and whether the entire line will open or just to one of the more eastern stations has yet to be determined. However, Ted "Biking In L.A." Rogers noticed that the Expo tracks have been placed all the way to the Phase I terminus. While station construction hasn't been completed along the line, he notes, "I got a nice surprise yesterday when I was riding through Culver City, and noticed the Expo Line now has tracks all the way to the Phase 1 terminus...it's still pretty exciting to see it this close to completion."

“The Sunnyvale Decision” and Phase II of Expo: Game Changer or Footnote?
Yesterday, Judge Thomas McKnew gave a victory to Expo Phase II by issuing a tentative ruling that, if he doesn't change his mind in the next couple of weeks, would dismiss the lawsuit challenging the environmental review for the second stage of the Expo Line by Neighbors for Smart Rail. Going into the hearing, most advocates were predicting dismissal based on the quality of the mitigations that the Expo Construction Authority has proposed at places where the light rail line will cross north-south streets.

Breaking News: Judge Gives Initial Ruling in Favor of Expo
I just got off the phone from the courthouse in Norwalk and the news is good for supporters of Phase II of the Expo Line, although the case brought by Neighbors for Smart Rail was not completely dismissed by the judge.

For transit supporters, all eyes are going to be set on a court room in Norwalk today for the hearing that will determine the short-term future of light rail in West L.A., but as they're traveling to the Courthouse the Times has given them some reading material.

Expo Update: FTA Gives Thumbs Up to Farmdale Station
Last week, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed Farmdale Station for the Expo Line, clearing the Expo Construction Authority to begin construction of the station. Westside Real Estate Agents Talking Expo with Clients
Via Light Rail for Cheviot comes news that while the legal battles over the Westside extension of the Expo Line may be pending, local real estate agents are talking the train with prospective clients. Naturally, the agents are hedging their bets, and have invited both Hello Expo! and Neighbors for Smart Rail to contribute to a new flyer.
