Move LA Fundraiser Attracts 30/10 Movers, Asks “What’s Shakin?”
On Sunday morning, transit reform champions Move LA hosted a garden party to raise money for its campaign to support Mayor Villaraigosa’s 30/10 plan and to enlist Los Angeles' stalwart political activists in its efforts. Held in the often traffic-swarmed West LA neighborhood of Brentwood, the event was organized by Streetsblog friend and Huffington Post transportation writer Joel Epstein.

“High Desert Corridor,” a New Highway for North L.A. County, Moves Forward
We don't often discuss issues effecting the Northern parts of L.A. County. But as a freeway expansion project moves through the environmental study phases towards construction; it's worthwhile to check in on one of the few new highway projects in Southern California, the High Desert Corridor project. With $33 million in Measure R funds to pay for the environmental studies already secured for the $6 billion highway project, Caltrans is moving forward with a series of public hearings in the North County this month. The Psychology of Road Rage: How Cars Transform Others Into Obstacles
We can peek inside the head of an aggressive driver thanks to some timeless research from psychologist Leon James. In the late 1990s, James analyzed thousands of messages between drivers posted on internet discussion groups. He found that good-natured people often became intolerant and anti-social the moment they pull into traffic. Congressional testimony given by James, posted on Network blog Baltimore Spokes, explains the psychology of road rage and how automobiles serve to depersonalize others.

The Week in Livable Streets Events
After a couple of really lackluster weeks, at least event wise, we have an absolutely packed week! I mean, on Saturday the city opens its public hearings on the most recent Draft of the Bike Plan, and for many of you that won't even be one of the three most interesting events of the week?
