Welcome to the Blogroll: Communities for Transportation Choice
Back in late May, the City of Los Angeles released the maps that will be the backbone for the city's newest Bike Plan on a Friday afternoon. Before the weekend was over, members of the bike community throughout the city responded with anger and frustration that the new maps appeared to be a rollback of the existing plan and was anything but visionary. Knowing that Alta Planning, the consultants for the project, are considered some of the most visionary bike planners in America; accusations that the City heavily edited and redacted Alta's work were common.

When Parking Spaces Are More Important Than Homes
Parking. It takes up a lot of space in the discussion of
transportation and planning. No surprise, since one of the main

It was a great event, and we decided that we're going to do more of them. Well, after I get used to not sleeping we'll do more of them.

Compromise or Concession: It’s Not Just for Healthcare
Health care and transportation funding are very different items on Congress' to-do list, but the Washington Post's assessment
of the former issue fits the latter as well: Lawmakers return today
from a month-long recess to find a political landscape that has barely
shifted from the impasse of late July.

This Week in Livable Streets Events
Well, Labor Day has come and gone which means that you're just so out of fashion if you're wearing white and the Livable Streets Calendar will start to heat back up. It seems that Metro and the City Council take August off, so it's a good time to catch your breath, but now it's time to jump back in!

A Livable Streets Renaissance in Savannah?
The last time we checked in with the folks down at Sustainable Savannah, it was to get an update on the jaywalking ticket blitz
that the city was conducting -- not exactly evidence of a progressive
attitude toward traffic safety. Today, we've got better news.
