Joe’s Movie Reccomendation: Crude
The extraordinary documentary movie Crude is showing in Santa Monica this week.
It's a compelling portrait of epic legal struggle by indigenous peoples
in Ecuador to force Chevron/Texaco to clean up the toxins left behind
from decades of oil extraction in the Amazon rainforest.

Sharrows Coming to Hermosa Beach
On July 28th 2009, the City of Hermosa Beach approved its Bikeways Master Plan. Hermosa Beach is a 1.7-square-mile South Bay city with a population of about 20,000. The Assumption of Inconvenience
Early this week, I noticed a number of my favorite bloggers linking to this Elisabeth Rosenthal essay

well-known recording artist, one-fourth of the Talking Heads and the
founder of the heavenly Luaka Bop world music label. Byrne is also many
other things seen and not seen, including an artist, a bicyclist. He's
created artistic bike racks, including one shaped as an electric guitar.
He has written a new book called Bicycle Diaries. The book, I read, is
about his true stories of travels by bike in various cities.

Introducing Today’s Guest Writer: Joe Linton
Much like Stephen Box yesterday, it's kind of a waste of time to write a bio for Joe Linton. Currently, Linton is an author,
artist and urban environmental activist involved mainly in
transportation and water issues. He currently works for Cyclists
Inciting Change thru Live Exchange C.I.C.L.E. www.cicle.org.

L.A.’s Draft Bike Plan Enters “Civic Enragement” Phase
LA's Draft Bike Plan is a huge document of thin ambition, that relies
on controversy over process to distract from the fact that it lacks
vision, it lacks substance, and it lacks the teeth necessary to bring
about any change
