Culture War on Wheels
Having
dispensed with the question of whether an African-American or woman
will ever make it to the White House, conservative Culture Warriors
have moved on to defining and dividing Americans over their chosen mode
of transportation. These two images have been floating around the right
wing blogosphere under the shrieky, all-caps headline, "THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW." Somehow or another this strikes me as a promising development.

Westside Urban Forum: Addressing the Big Issues
Los Angeles faces many critical issues that transcend city boundaries.
Yet it can be a challenge to act regionally when politics is acted out
on a local or sub-regional stage. We have recently witnessed this drama
in efforts to bring a transportation sales tax to the voters in

California’s Senators Want Better Signals for Rail Safety
In the wake of last week's Metrolink disaster there has been a lot of discussion about what impact more modern signals could have had in preventing the crash. Today, the Times revealed that Metrolink had been an outspoken critic of Congressional efforts to require better signalization for all train tracks.
