Enjoy Memorial Day, I’ll Be Back on Wednesday
I hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day Weekend. I'll be out of town so I hope everyone enjoys the two interviews that will be posting momentarily. Be well, ride safe, and see you all next week. In the meantime, NYC Streetsblog will continue to post breaking national news as it happens and S.F. Streetsblog will be sure to cover any breaking news at the state level.

Welcome Elana Schor, Streetsblog’s New National Reporter
As you may have noticed, we’ve got a new reporter here at Streetsblog, Elana Schor. Elana will be covering this year’s big federal transportation story down in Washington D.C. with an eye towards helping transit advocates and livable streets activists gain a better understanding of what has typically been a very inside-the-Beltway, highway-oriented process. Introducing LA Streetsblog on Twitter
A couple of weeks ago, I opened an account on twitter called "laBikes" to share information on ways to get involved in bike advocacy. I linked to government documents, meeting announcements, Streetsblog stories and other links from around the Intenet. I chose to focus on bikes because of the excitement left over from the Bike Summit, but what I didn't remember is that there already was an LA Streetsblog twitter account. After some nudging from Zach Behrens at LAist, I decided to close laBikes and reinvigorate LA Streetsblog. And really, isn't Streetsblog about promoting modal equality anyway.

Are You an Angeleno Living or Moving to D.C.?
With
major transportation, climate, and energy legislation coming before
Congress in 2009 and 2010, Streetsblog is seeking a talented journalist
to cover Capitol Hill. We're looking for a reporter/blogger who can
help bring outside-the-Beltway readers inside the legislative process,
scoop the mainstream press, and make Streetsblog Capitol Hill an
engaging and entertaining must-read.
