Westchester Playa Neighborhood Council Votes Against PDR Safety Projects
At a standing room only meeting last night, the Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa voted to approve a letter calling to "immediately reverse the lane reductions in Playa del Rey." The letter was approved mostly as proposed, but opposition to the Pershing Drive road diet was removed.

Vision Zero Safety Improvements Planned For Temple Street
Last Wednesday, the city of Los Angeles Vision Zero team held a workshop for public input on planned safety upgrades for Temple Street. At the workshop, the city Transportation Department (LADOT) shared potential plans for Temple, and received public input.

Irate drivers calling themselves "Open Streets PDR" are working to undo recent safety improvements in Playa Del Rey. Councilmember Bonin has responded that "We should never buy into the notion that convenience is worth endangering lives."

Vision Zero Aims to Improve Safety along Main, Broadway, Western, Hoover, and More in South L.A.
The focus on South L.A. is due to the high rate at which pedestrians and cyclists are killed or severely injured (KSI) in collisions with vehicles. Case in point - sixteen of the twenty-five most dangerous neighborhoods for cyclists and pedestrians called out on the map below are in South L.A.
