SGV Connect 4 – Bike-Share Gets Its Tires Wet in Pasadena
After watching bike-share systems come online in Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Long Beach, in July it was Pasadena's turn to launch its own bike-share system. Shortly after the launch, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (COG) earned a grant to expand bike-share to fourteen cities throughout the valley.

SGV Connect #3: Check Out the Future Foothill Gold Line Stations
Every now and then, one of our interviews turns up some breaking news. The six stations that will be part of the next Foothill Gold Line Extension will have 100 more spaces of parking for bicycles than the six stations opened last year. Much of that increased parking will be in the form of "bike rooms" similar to the bike hub currently opened at the El Monte Bus Terminal.

That’s Right. My Church Is Throwing a Family-Friendly Transit Party
Tonight at five, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (11555 National Blvd, 90064) is throwing a transit-themed "First Friday Family Fun Night" featuring games, field trips on the Big Blue Bus, safety talks from Metro and the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, and even a giant "Thomas the Train" set built by a former Streetsblog editor who is also writing this article.

Venice NC Committee Calls for Data on, Not Termination of, Mar Vista Road Diet
For those of us living near the Great Streets/Vision Zero pilot program in West Los Angeles, every day brings new developments in the back-and-forth between advocates for safe streets and advocates for car commuters frustrated by delay. The road diet turned a six-lane road with a bike lane and car parking into a two-lane road with a parking-protected bike lane. The pilot project is set to run for one year, with reports coming in every three months.
