I could probably spend the entire post just raving about the food, atmosphere, ambiance and crowd that showed up at Deborah Murphy's Silver Lake Home on Saturday night for our 5th Birthday Party and 2012 Streetsie Award Night but then I wouldn't have time for all the thank you's that I owe.

Santa Monica: From Bike It! Day to Biking Cross Country
Owen Gorman and Rachel Horn, two friends who’ve known each other since their time attending Samohi, are embarking on a coast to coast bicycle tour combining their advocacy interests along the way. The two college graduates were both part of the early student led effort to host a bike to school event on the Samohi campus that became the successful Bike It! Walk It! program. I caught up with them recently to chat about their plans for riding coast to coast and about their advocacy.

Teaching Police How to Use Laws That Protect Pedestrians and Cyclists
Seattle resident Heather Barnett was making her usual bike commute to the University of Washington campus last September when she was t-boned by an SUV driver who blew a stop sign. Needless to say, it was a life-altering incident for the young woman.
