The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) will host a second bicycle ride and protest on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in honor of downed cyclist and City employee Ed Magos—and other victims of hit-and-run collisions whose cases have been unjustly treated only to have the drivers time and time again receive unfairly light sentences—if any at all.

Bike the Vote with Congresswoman Jane Harman and Assembly Candidate Betsy Butler
Bike the Beach is an exciting get-out-the-vote (GOTV) bike ride from Torrance Beach to Venice Beach celebrating two of the greatest and most important things we can do: BIKE and VOTE! We kickoff at Torrance Beach, with rally stops featuring food, information and fun at Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Playa del Rey and Venice. At the ride’s culmination in Venice, there’s an awesome party at sculptor Guy Dill’s art studio - with lots of food, mariachi, margaritas…and some feel good political speeches to get you fired up and ready to go! For people that need a ride back to the South Bay from Venice, we’ll have vans and trucks ready to take you and your bikes. Its free and fun for the whole family! Please register to help us get an accurate head count for catering purposes.

HIGH-SPEED TRAIN COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSES
Please join the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) for open houses on October 27 and 28 in Rosemead and Alhambra, respectively. The Authority will also be presenting a project update to the San Gabriel City Council on October 19. These meetings will provide an opportunity to learn more about the High-Speed Train program, and specifically, the I-10 Freeway corridor alternative as part of the Los Angeles to San Diego via the Inland Empire Section. These open house meetings will provide an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to speak directly with members of the project team, ask questions and provide feedback.
