Coming Next Friday, the “Where the Train Used to Go” Fundraiser and Bike Ride
Next Friday at 7:00 P.M., the second Los Angeles Streetsblog fundraiser will roll out of the Flying Pigeon Bike Shop (3714 Figueroa Street) at 7:00 P.M. We'll be doing a relaxed pace, nearly-ten-mile ride visiting many of the former transit stops of the old trolley cars in Northeast L.A. You can see our probably route here, but to find out why certain stops were selected, you're going to have to join us.

Two-Year Outreach for Culver City’s Bike-Ped. Plan Ends This Saturday
I became passionate about biking when I lived in Paris. Mayor Bertrand Delanoe had implemented a bold transportation plan making biking safe, practical, accessible and fun. When I moved back here, I decided not to get caught up in the L.A. car culture: riding rather than driving whenever possible, and teaching my two kids to do the same. I have high hopes for my hometown Culver City, which has the perfect size and demographics to become truly bicycle and pedestrian friendly.

Local Governments Lining Up Behind Dodd’s Livability Legislation
With financial reform nearly complete, the Senate
Banking Committee turned its attention today to one of Senator Chris
Dodd's (D-CT) next priorities, the Livable Communities Act. Local
government came out strong for the initiative to promote sustainable
and integrated regional planning, with representatives of the nation's
cities, towns, counties, and regional planning organizations testifying
in favor. Among committee members, concerns persisted about whether the bill would disadvantage rural areas.
