Bike Stations Open in Covina and Claremont
Not all of the bicycling news happened in Los Angeles City Hall on Wednesday. The cities of Covina and Claremont both opened Bikestations. Each city is now the proud owner of a two hundred fifty square foot facility adjacent to their Metrolink Stations, designed to make it easier for people to walk or bike either to the Metrolink trains or to just within their towns.

Did You Miss Streetsblog’s Coverage of the Metro Board?
Way back when I first started writing Street Heat, one of the way that I attracted readers was to do long, in-depth coverage of Metro Board meetings. I would write a preview beforehand and a review afterward. When Street Heat moved to Streetsblog, I continued the practice even though the other Streetsblogs would just cover any news that came out of their local MTA meetings.

Ridley-Thomas: Expo Line Dooms South L.A. to Second Class Status
If the rumblings out of Cheviot Hills of a potential lawsuit weren't enough proof that the battle over the Expo Line hasn't been settled by approval of the environmental documents at this month's Expo Board Meeting; an editorial by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, that slams the construction plans for at-grade crossings in South L.A. and into the Westside has been appearing in some local papers and the Los Angeles Business Journal.
