L.A. voters went the polls and strongly supported for bus, walk, and bike improvements six months ago to the day. What is there to show for Measure HLA passage? Aside from a couple of projects that were already announced prior to the vote… nothing. (cue cricket noises.) The city says that will change this week, because HLA is about to trigger 450 feet of hilly new bike lanes in Tarzana. Meanwhile the city is resurfacing streets in South and omitting required walk, bike and bus improvements. Read Streetsblog’s HLA update.

And it looks like all that Metro/Caltrans freeway widening is working, because the climate is sizzling from all those tailpipe emissions, meaning today’s daily SBLA headlines – again – are sweltering under record-setting heat across the county, er, the state, well, the West, er, the hemisphere… got it: the globe.
