Does Streetsblog demand total ideological purity? I can name a number of bike projects LaBonge shepherded. And a number he opposed. His Tour LaBonge program brought a ton of Angelenos biking on city streets. You could understand KPCC’s confusion.

Streetsblog L.A. didn’t write the article referenced – Biking in L.A. did. I try to give leaders credit when they favor a livability project, and criticism when they don’t. My perception is that more often than not, on projects including Glendale-Hyperion, 4th Street Bike Boulevard, 6th Street road diet, LaBonge prioritized car through-put above other interests.
