Expanding Our Public Transit Options: Resources to Keep LA Moving Forward?

XPANDING OUR PUBLIC TRANSIT OPTIONS:

RESOURCES TO KEEP LA MOVING FORWARD?

WHO: Breathe California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA), The 4th annual BREATHE LA Green Salon Series focuses on mobility: Moving Los Angeles County into a clean air future.

WHAT:           Expert panel discussion with robust Q&A to explore what would it mean for Los Angeles to have a robust and well-integrated system for public travel?   And, how do we get there? Our visionary new light rail projects, many of which are already under construction, may be completed in ten rather than thirty years, and they represent critical keystone investments.  However, simultaneously we need to upgrade our feeder network—buses, bike paths, pedestrian walkways–so that we can move easily from doorstep to doorstep.  As we become a national leader in developing new transit infrastructure, we must make sure that the resources are also available to support other forms of transit operations and travel alternatives.  The Green Salon panel will help us picture the new approaches to travel that are arriving in Los Angeles.   However, equally important, we are going to face the challenge of securing operational resources to keep public travel moving forward.

Participants include:

Wendy Greuel, Controller, City of Los Angeles

Denny Zane, Executive Director of Move LA

David Yale, Deputy Executive Officer of Regional Programming for the Countywide Planning Department of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
