CicLAvia Looking for Volunteers…Starting Tomorrow

Generally, when we add an advertiser to the side bar, we like to take a second to introduce them to the community.  I don’t think we need to introduce CicLAvia, so we waited until there was some value to the CicLAvia team to give them their welcome announcement.

The CicLAvia team has begun to reach out and ask for volunteers to help make CicLAvia a repeat success in 2011.  But you don’t have to wait until April 1oth to help out, they actually need a hand this week…starting tomorrow.  Be sure to bookmark this page, and check it regularly if you’re interested in helping.  Here are the dates they have listed now for volunteer opportunities:

Changes at CicLAvia: New Route, New Dates

|
Change is in the air for CicLAvia, the gigantic car-free party that has changed the way Angelenos think about their streets.  First, the date for this October’s CicLAvia V has been moved forward from the original date of October 14 to October 7.  With the city planning to bring a space ship through the streets […]

CicLAvia : 100,000 Cyclists, 0 Incidents, Millions of Stories

|
(This is part one of our coverage of yesterday’s groundbreaking Open Street Festival.  Hopefully later today we’ll have up a Streetfilm.  Tomorrow we’ll review the reviews of CicLAvia. – DN.) There’s many ways to try and talk about yesterday’s CicLAvia.  One way is to look at the numbers, another to look at the people, and […]

CicLAvia Heading Deeper Through the Eastside, but When?

|
For CicLAvia, figuring out how, when and where to expand has been its biggest challenge.  While CicLAvia is free to attend, it costs a lot of money to push past the current 10-mile route, closing streets to cars, providing police support and re-routing car drivers who find entrences and exits from the freeway blocked.  Despite […]

How About a Half Dozen CicLAvias in 2011?

|
The CicLAvia team met last night to review the lessons learned from last Sunday’s amazing open street festival in Los Angeles. Apparently, the committee was as happy with the results as everyone else that attended the event because they’re hoping to program between four and six CicLAvias for 2011. One of those would mirror the […]

CicLAvia Successfully Rides Again

|
They don’t look like they’re on their way to church, I thought as I eyed up the handful of serious-looking young men lined up outside a corner liquor store. I was headed to Watts to meet up with the feeder ride led by the East Side Riders. But I was running a little behind because […]
