Review of Mobility 21 Conference
(Editor's note: One of the drawbacks of the timing of things is I have been unable to add anything to the coverage of the Mobility 21 conference that occurred earlier this week. Leaders from the freight industry, ports, car-lobby and government leaders held a summit on Monday to get together and talk about what they think needs to be done to fix our transportation system. Fortunately, there was a lot of coverage in the media, Steve Hymon served as the conference's official blogger/twitterer and So.CA.TA.'s Dana Gabbard wrote a lengthy review, which you can find below.)

New Report: 10% Transit Growth Would Help Meet House Climate Target
A 10 percent annual increase in U.S. transit ridership would reduce
CO2 emissions by 180 million tons each year, taking the nation halfway
to the target set by the House climate change bill within three years,
according to a report [PDF] released today by Environment America and the Coalition for Smarter Growth.

In Denver, They Get It: Bikes Are Good for Business
People see bicycles and bicycle infrastructure in a lot of different ways. In New York, for instance, some politicians and business owners seem to view bike lanes and the people who ride in them as somehow dangerous for small businesses.

Council Approves Moving Forward With Wilshire Bus Lanes
The city of Los Angeles' Wilshire Boulevard Bus-Only Lane project
took another step forward at this morning's full city council hearing.
The project would implement peak-hour bus-only lanes from Pico Union to
Santa Monica. It's calculated to speed bus times by about 25%. More information at Metro's project website.
