Just a few meetings as public agencies wind down for their winterval break, but still some important and fun goings on:

    • Monday 12/12 - Tonight - Happy Urbanists celebrate the end of 2016 at a holiday mixer. Drinks and discussion go from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Arts District Brewing Co. at 828 Traction Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Details at Facebook event.
    • Tuesday 12/13 - The city of L.A. Bureau of Engineering is hosting a community meeting on plans for the L.A. River Greenway and Bikeway through the San Fernando Valley. The meeting takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Monarch Hall at L.A. Valley College at 5800 Fulton Avenue in Van Nuys. Meeting details on event flier [PDF].
    • Wednesday 12/14 - The State of California's Strategic Growth Council are hosting lessons learned workshops to reflect onthe 2016 round of the Affordable Housing & Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program Grants. The only Southern California meeting will take place Wednesday from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library at 5870 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach. Event details on flier [PDF].     • Saturday 12/17 - Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner along with partners L.A. Rail, the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society, Metrolink, and Metro will host a Holiday TrainFest and Toy Drive. The celebration is free, but bring a new unwrapped toy to donate in support of local charities. Tour vintage train cars, talk with Santa, and more. The festivities run from 4 to 8 p.m. at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Details at Facebook event.
