When promoting the “Going Away/Engagement” party for Joe Linton and Carrie Lincourt, Streetsblog hasn’t been able to help ourselves and often mention our fundraising goals. But let’s not forget what we’re really doing on Sunday. We’re saying “see you later” to a local legend and “congratulations” to a happy couple. We’re doing it at Eco-Village, we’re doing it on bikes. I can’t think of a more fitting party.
And in honor of that, I’m not going to give the fundraiser details until AFTER the jump.
So join us on Sunday. Those of us feeling up to it will start the festivities at Eco-Village (Map here ) for a mini-tour at 2:00 p.m. Following that, there’s a reception in the Eco-Village courtyard from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There’s a group of Eco-Villagers and Streetsbloggers that are making some finger food, and New Belgium Brewing is donating 120 long necks. It wouldn’t be a Streetsblog/Eco-Village event without some Fat Tire.
So here’s what we know about Joe and Carrie’s future plans. We know they’re moving to New Jersey and she has a great job in New York. The door is certainly open for a comeback, but it’s not like there’s a date set. Even if they do return to the Southland, it might not be until after they’re married.
So this Sunday is a party. A party that one of our favorite people has found love. A party to celebrate all that Joe has done for Los Angeles. A party to celebrate a loving and happy future for two people that deserve it…
…not that we’re adverse to raising some cash for Streetsblog while we’re at it. There’s a couple of ways to help us reach our fundraising goals for December. Anyone that donates to Streetsblog and does the ride will get a ride card. I’ll be collecting donations and orders for t-shirts or bags. Also, there will be a raffle and silent auction for some Joe Linton art. Fans of Joe’s art will probably be able to get some deals on Sunday…just an extra incentive.
But of course, the main incentive is a chance to give our best to Joe and Carrie. I’ll see you there on Sunday.
