I gather from the tweets on Twitter that the Long Range Transportation Plan was approved.

Were any of the amendments approved?

I hope it works out well....for bikes (as I say laughingly). In case you don't follow him, @villaraigosa (and @MobilityMaven (aka Rita Robinson) as well) has been blowin' up the twitter telling people to lodge their support for the Long Term Transp Plan--and how easy it is (just two clicks!). Since I've given him a bit of snarky comments in reply, I figured I'd help him out this time. Here's my email, which I'm sure will result in an onslaught of bike planning and infrastructure:

Dear Ms. Jackson,

Many in our city are using bicycles as their preferred mode of transportation, and their presence fits well into any bi-modal and multi-modal transportation plan. Please be sure to support and encourage cycling and those who choose to use cycling as a means of transportation in any long term transportation plan. Many other cities that have opted to included cycling and cycling planning in their long term plans are reaping huge benefits. Please see New York, Portland, Boulder, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, just to name a few that have received much press lately.

Please also pass the Long Range Transportation plan at today’s meeting. We have waited long enough. It is time to get to work and build Los Angeles the sustainable, comprehensive transportation network it deserves. The cyclists of this city look forward to how cycling will be incorporated into all future planning.

Thank you.
