I think that having coverage of the BAC, and following up on the City's response to the BAC's actions will do a lot to increase pressure on politicians in charge of bicycle planning decisions.

The meeting night will always suck for some people, as will the location. The city is big, and the BAC is a citywide organization. Downtown makes sense because there are a lot more transportation options for downtown than a lot of other places.

If the meeting was on a Saturday night, then that wouldn't be a problem, right?

Joe, I do think Saturday meetings would allow far more cyclists to participate, and since the meetings are only held every other month, it wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience to the members. The only drawback I can see would be that it could exclude many observant Jews from participating, with is a concern in a city with such a large Jewish population.

It sure would be nice if the BAC was made up of not politicians, but rather cyclists. We have the same problem in Long Beach with our BAC being made up of a professional racing cyclist, the City Manager, some of his weekend warrior club friends, and others that have "consulting" agendas.

Shouldn't BACs be made up of student-cyclists, cruiser moms, LCIs, bike shop owners/managers, traffic engineers and police?
