  • The Daily News misreported Zipcar’s eligibility criteria. Non-students can also register for Zipcar accounts. I’ve had mine for four years. The reporter might have been attempting to call attention to the fact that students ages 18-20 can also sign up for Zipcar if they meet a more rigorous set of criteria mostly related to their driving record. Typically Zipcar’s minimum age is 21, so if you’re between the age of 18 and 20, you need to be enrolled at a university that also has an arrangement with Zipcar to provide the necessary car insurance.
