I ride Myra once a week or so; very handy. Noticed the bike lanes about three weeks ago. It does help that they route you around some nasty bad concrete on the northern approach to the Sunset overpass.

Fountain/Hyperion could use lanes, or at least sharrows, which I also ride. The Hyperion part has plenty of width for a "street diet," and those longitudinal joints in the concrete are disquieting and make it hard to stay out of the way of both potential doorings and the usual too-fast traffic. I always see a lot of cyclists here, especial between Sunset and Wilton, but also on Hyperion.

But, I thought LADOT said they were "not going to put in (bike) lanes for just one or two bicyclists."

Oh, I see! Apparently they will if there are at least THREE "different lone cyclists"??!!??

Although it is good that a bike lane was added and the road was narrowed to one lane. This street is far from being pedestrian friendly. Myra acts as a freeway for commuters coming off of Hyperion and Santa Monica and there is not a single crosswalk between Fountain and Santa Monica, a distance of 8 blocks. This allows cars to reach upwards of 50 mph and trying to cross this street is like trying to cross a freeway. This road is in serious need of even the most basic pedestrian infrastructure, especially considering how many pedestrians exist in this neighborhood.

2300 feet at a time.

It would be cool if there were before and after traffic speed and volume counts as well as before and after cyclist counts. That data would make it easier to argue for the next 2300 feet.
