Great ride to Long Beach! I just wish that there was some encouragement by the organizers to get to the start without driving. It was nice to ride for the LACBC, but most people drove to the Autry Center in the first place. The River Ride website had a space for metro and bike directions, but it said "coming soon" and was never filled in.

Hi, guys! Thanks for the shout-out. What a great, fun ride for a wonderful cause! I did the 36 mile ride, not knowing how hard it would be. Next year, definitely a further one - maybe the 100?! (I'd better start training!)

Also, as for staff / elected offices and officials -- I know that Helen Leung from Council President Garcetti did the *100 mile* ride. So there were definitely city reps there. In her case, she just had to be there hours earlier!

Good event! It was great to see Damien and a chance to meet his mom. I noticed that on the way back the Norhtbound 5 Fwy as backed up for nearly a mile and everyone riding on the River bike path were traveling faster than the cars stuck on the freeway!

Eastside Bike Club members participated in all the ride distances. It was neat to see the ride go thru the neighborhoods of Lincoln Heights and Boyle Heights.

The Eastside was completely left off the Bike Master Plan!

Well here is some good news:
We want to invite everyone to the EASTSIDE's BIKE CLUB 1st YEAR ANNIVERSARY on JUNE 27th starting at 3pm @ LINCOLN PARK.

Come decorate your bike RED WHITE AND BLUE (its the weekend before th 4th of July)

Ride leaves at 4:30pm thru the streets of Lincoln Hieghts, Boyle Heighs and El Sereno. Ride will conclude back at Lincoln Park where we will have a picnic.

Parks and Recs will have Bands and DJs playing music, the featured band will be Eastsides own "TIERRA". At dusk there will be an outdoor movie theater and FIREWORKS!

FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE!

All ages and abilites welcomed

Does that read snarky? I'll change it. I thought the rest of the paragraph made it clear that that's what I thought was going on too...

"...eager to pay $50 for some schwag and a chance to ride the streets and bike paths of L.A. "

That's one snarky way of looking at it, but I'm going to hope that some of those people paid the fee to support the LACBC and be apart of something bigger than themselves.

I ran into two LABAC reps (Aaron and Brad WASSUP!) and Councilman Ed Reyes blew by on his GT in the early dawn with a quick, "Helllloooooo!" - he was, no doubt, trying to lap the Century riders judging by his pace.
